Some applications of Machine Learning to Ocean Hydrodynamics

Speaker : Professor Thomas (Tom) Adcock

Professor of Engineering Science at the University of Oxford and Official Fellow at St Peter’s College, Oxford

CEE and CFI Singapore recently organised a Woh Hup Distinguished Lecture by Professor Thomas Adcock highlighting the use of machine learning to enhance ocean modelling and prediction.

The session introduced innovative approaches to improve water level forecasting, coastal flood prediction, and data assimilation for offshore applications.

More than 70 attendees joined the session, learning how machine learning can overcome challenges faced by traditional methods and support future operational needs.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this insightful event.

CFI Singapore invites academics and industry partners to collaborate with us in organizing workshops and seminars focused on coastal protection and flood resilience. For collaboration inquiries, please reach out to us at cfisg@nus.edu.sg to discuss opportunities.
