ASIA Tsunami Workshop 2026: An Overview
The Asia Tsunami Workshop (ATW), also known as the 16th South China Sea Tsunami Workshop (SCSTW) will be held on October 21–23, 2026, at the Singapore Institute of Technology Campus. The workshop, hosted for the first time by the Coastal Protection and Flood Resilience Institute Singapore (CFI Singapore) and the National University of Singapore, will bring together leading tsunami scientists, engineers, policymakers, and practitioners to advance regional collaboration in tsunami science and coastal resilience.
The Asia Tsunami Workshop has established itself as an important platform for experts to exchange advances in tsunami hazard assessment, modelling, monitoring technologies, and disaster preparedness strategies. Previous editions have highlighted the growing need for regional knowledge sharing and scientific collaboration as coastal populations expand and exposure to coastal hazards increases.
Participants will have the opportunity to present new research, exchange technical insights with international experts, and explore emerging approaches in tsunami science, risk reduction, and coastal resilience. The workshop also provides a valuable platform to strengthen regional networks and develop new collaborations with researchers and practitioners working across complementary coastal hazard domains.
Join leading experts and practitioners in Singapore for the Asia Tsunami Workshop 2026, and contribute to advancing scientific knowledge and collaborative solutions for tsunami preparedness and resilient coastal communities.
In 2026, the workshop will be held alongside the 2026 CFI Annual Symposium and 6th International Symposium of Water Disaster Mitigation and Water Environment Regulation, creating a broader platform that brings together experts working across coastal protection, flood resilience, and related coastal hazard research. This combined setting will enable participants to engage with a wider interdisciplinary community, including specialists in coastal engineering, coastal hazard modelling, risk assessment, and resilient coastal infrastructure.

The International Symposium of Water Disaster Mitigation and Water Environment Regulation (WDWE) serves as a multi-disciplinary platform for global researchers to share insights and discuss the latest scientific advancements in water disaster prevention and ecosystem-based adaptation. This is increasingly critical as climate change brings growing uncertainties and challenges to the resilience of megacities.
The symposium provides an opportunity for scientists and practitioners to present their latest discoveries, innovative strategies, and best practices for enhancing resilience to water disasters, water pollution, and ecosystem degradation, while supporting sustainable development in the world’s megacities.

The CFI Singapore Symposium 2026 convenes researchers, policymakers, and industry partners to exchange insights on advancing coastal protection and flood resilience in the face of climate change and rising sea levels. The symposium highlights cutting edge research, innovative engineering solutions, and nature-based approaches that support sustainable and resilient coastal environments. It also provides a platform for collaboration and knowledge exchange across academia, government, and industry to translate research into practical solutions for Singapore and the region.
