Awkwardness is a series of flipbooks that compiles the most plainspoken and beguilingly true quips of children currently going through puberty.
Neither child nor adult, pubescent kids find themselves caught in an awkward phase of life. The compilation does not wish to solve or sugar coat puberty. Instead, through the use of empathy, it hopes to provide a blank canvas through which pre-teens are able to ponder their morphing minds and bodies.
Once our state of comfort is met, luxury intrudes and we begin to yearn for greater extravagance and personal exclusivity.
The Callus Manual & Kit tackles this human tendency by pointing out the potential scenario of implanting a callus onto oneself; adopting one's personality and developing instantaneously. What is supposed to be an enduring process—that we once saw in a craftsman’s worn out hands and the soles of a ballerina’s feet—becomes possible in just a few days. Such admirable personalised physical traits give exclusivity, and thus, instant gratification.
‘Play’ is a rather overused yet ambiguous term. Simplified, play is about reducing resolution and thus, creating more space for play.
Minimals strives to bring delightful realisation to us, by capturing its simplest and most iconic characteristics within its 5 x 5 x 5 cm wooden body. We hope our Minimals will not only surprise, but also serve as an educational tool to glean unique essences of the individual animals.
