CFI Singapore Signs MoU with Hohai University’s Key Laboratory of Coastal Disaster and Protection
18 February 2025
CFI Singapore is proud to announce the official signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hohai University’s Key Laboratory of Coastal Disaster and Protection. This agreement was formalized during the NUS-HHU Bilateral Workshop on Coastal Resilience and Sustainable Future (CoRISE), held from 17 to 20 February 2025. The workshop focused on the sustainable development and safety of coastal areas in the face of climate change, offering a platform for academic leaders to explore cutting-edge scientific knowledge, innovative technologies, and effective engineering practices for resilient coastal development.
CoRISE also provided an important forum for discussing future collaborations, including joint international project applications, personnel exchanges, and the dissemination of research outcomes that will shape the future of coastal resilience.
This partnership between CFI Singapore and Hohai University represents a significant step in advancing global coastal protection and flood resilience efforts, leveraging the expertise and resources of both institutions to tackle the critical challenges coastal communities face today.
Key Focus Areas of the Partnership:
- Strengthening Collaboration: The MoU establishes a foundation for long-term collaboration, enabling the exchange of knowledge, research, and insights to enhance coastal protection and flood resilience.
- Joint Research Initiatives: Both institutions will explore high-impact research projects that focus on mitigating coastal disasters and advancing sustainable flood resilience strategies.
- Student Exchange: This partnership will also support academic growth through student exchange programs and co-supervision of graduate students, fostering the next generation of leaders in coastal protection and resilience.
“The signing of this MoU with Hohai University marks a pivotal moment in our shared mission to develop innovative and impactful solutions for coastal protection and flood resilience. We are excited by the potential for collaborative research, academic exchange, and the positive, real-world impact this partnership will generate to address pressing coastal challenges globally.” – Professor Adrian Law, Executive Director, CFI Singapore
