Introduction to PCB Design workshop by NUS IEEE-HKN’s Talent Relay Initiative

On 12 February 2025, the NUS IEEE-HKN Chapter proudly held the second installment of its Talent Relay Initiative with an insightful Introduction to PCB Design workshop. This initiative continues to provide a dynamic platform for knowledge sharing, while offering IEEE-HKN members opportunities to develop leadership, communication, and teaching skills.

This time, the workshop was led by Terence Chan, who led a total of 28 students thorough overview of the essential principles behind printed circuit board (PCB) design—a vital skill for anyone working in electronics. Through a combination of clear explanations and hands-on demonstrations, Terence walked participants through the stages of PCB design, from schematic capture to layout optimization, equipping them with practical skills that are directly applicable to their academic and personal projects.

Similar to the first workshop and in line with the goals of the Talent Relay Initiative, many participants stayed behind after the session to engage in a vibrant exchange of ideas. Some shared their own PCB designs, discussed with others challenges they had encountered, and brainstormed potential projects together. This exchange of ideas not only enriched the learning experience but also strengthened the sense of community amongst individuals with mutual interest in PCB design.

The NUS IEEE-HKN Chapter extends its sincere thanks to Terence Chan for leading the session, and to all participants for their enthusiasm and active involvement. We look forward to expanding the Talent Relay Initiative with more workshops that provide further opportunities for skill-building, mentorship, and collaboration.
