  • Assistant Professor Feng Jiashi has been awarded “Engineering Young Researcher 2020” in recognition of his research work and contributions in artificial intelligence.

    Won IEEE Communications Society’s 2 prestigious awards, namely:
    a) Marconi Prize Paper Award:
    The winning paper is entitled “Energy-Efficient UAV Communication with Trajectory Optimization”, IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, Vol. 16, No. 6, pp. 3747-3760, June 2017.
    b) Heinrich Hertz Award:
    The winning paper is entitled “Placement Optimization of UAV-Mounted Mobile Base Stations”, IEEE Communications Letters, Vol. 21, No. 3, pp 604-607, March 2017.
    This is the 2nd time Prof Zhang has won both these awards.
  • Professor Guo Yong Xin  –
    Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Journal of Electromagnetics, RF and Microwaves in Medicine and Biology, for a term of 3 years. He will be resuming duty on 1 August 2020.
  • Professor Yang Hyunsoo  –
    Awarded National Research Foundation (NRF) Investigatorship, in March 2020.
    He was awarded for his research project entitled “The next-generation non-volatile memory: towards THz operation.”
  • Associate Professor Vincent C. Lee
    appointed as the co-Editor-in-chief for the IEEE Trans. on Nanotechnology since the Jan 2020.
    He was also appointed as the Distinguished Lecturer for 2020 by the IEEE Nanotechnology Technical Council.
  • Dr Chen Wei (formerly Research Fellow, currently Lecturer at Zhejiang University), Dr Li Yida (Research Fellow), Dr Li Rongqiang (formerly Visiting Scholar, currently Professor at Chengdu University of Information Technology), Prof Aaron Thean and Prof Guo Yong Xin – 2020 IEEE Microwave and Wireless Components Letters Tatsuo Itoh Prize,  IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society (MTT-S).
    The team is honoured for making the most significant contribution by a published paper in the year 2018 in the field of interest of the Microwave Theory and Techniques Society. The Tatsou Itoh Award is given annually and recognizes the author(s) of the best paper published in the IEEE Microwave and Wireless Components Letters.

    Dr Lim was recognised for his work in quantum communications and cryptography resulting in quantum secure communication methods.

    APS-FIAP 2020 Distinguished Lectureship Award.
    Prof Venky has been honored for his outstanding work as a physicist and educator in Applied Physics.
  • Prof Hong Minghui
    Elected Vice President of The Institution of Engineers, Singapore (IES) for 2019/2021 session.
  • Team comprising Dr Ang Kah Wee and Feng Xuewei (PhD student under Dr Ang’s supervision) – Best Demo Paper, 2019 Symposia on VLSI Technology and Circuits, 9 – 14 June 2019, Kyoto, Japan.
    The winning paper is entitled “First demonstration of a fully-printed MoS2 RRAM on flexible substrate with ultra-low switching voltage and its application as electronic synapse“.
    This work was done in collaboration with the University of Cambridge and A*STAR Institute of High Performance Computing.
  • Dr Thomas Yeo –2019 Early Career Investigator Award, Organization for Human Brain Mapping.
    Dr Yeo is honoured for his contributions in developing and applying machine learning algorithms to map the human brain.

  • Assoc Prof Jerald Yoo – Appointed IEEE Solid-State Circuit Society (SSCS) Distinguished Lecturer (DL), for two-year term from 2017 – 2018. This is the first SSCS DL from a Singapore-based institution.
  • Dr Yoo has pioneered and is recognized in the field of Energy-Efficient Circuit Design for Wearable Healthcare Applications and Body Area Network using Human Body as a Communication Medium.
  • Prof Li Haizhou – International Speech Communication Association (ISCA) Fellow 2018. He is honoured for his contribution to multilingual speech information processing.
  • Team comprising Dr Li Teng (Research Fellow) and Prof Chen Zhining – Best Poster Award, 2018 IEEE International Workshop on Antenna Technology (iWAT), 4-7 March 2018, Nanjing, China. The winning paper is entitled “Design of Dual-band Metasurface Antenna”. The prize is a certificate.

  • Prof Hong Minghui – Outstanding Editor Award, Light: Science & Applications, Springer Nature Journal, Light Conference 2017, 17 July 2017, Changchun, China. Light: Science & Applications is a prominent optical journal under the Nature Publishing Group (impact factor 14.098 in 2016), ranking 3/92 in the field of Optics. It publishes high quality optics and photonics research from around the world.
