Associate Professor Sanjib Kumar Panda Receives Inaugural 2026 IEEE PELS Global Membership Development Award
Associate Professor Sanjib Kumar Panda from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), National University of Singapore (NUS), has been selected as the recipient of the 2026 IEEE Power Electronics Society (PELS) Global Membership Development Award. As the inaugural recipient, Prof Panda is recognised for his contributions to membership development and regional leadership within the global power electronics community.

Professor Akshay Kumar Rathore Receives 2026 IEEE Industry Applications Society Distinguished Service Award
Professor Akshay Kumar Rathore from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), National University of Singapore (NUS), has received the 2026 Distinguished Service Award from the IEEE Industry Applications Society (IAS) in recognition of his “leadership in establishing new IAS activities and expanding IAS programs.”
NUS Bitscraps Equips Members with Practical Electronics Repair Skills Through AY2026/27 Training Series
Ahead of its repair sessions after recess week, NUS Bitscraps conducted a three-part training series to equip members with the practical skills needed to diagnose and repair electronic devices. Designed to build progressively from fundamental electronics skills to hands-on troubleshooting, the sessions also introduced new members to the club’s approach to electronics repair. Held at the CDE Linear Electronics Lab (E4A-06-03), all three sessions were designed for members regardless of prior experience.
IEEE-HKN NUS Alumni Sharing Session 2026
On 18 September 2026, the IEEE-HKN Lambda Omega Chapter organised an Alumni Sharing Session, bringing together current NUS ECE students and seniors from diverse academic and professional backgrounds. The session provided students with an opportunity to learn from the speakers’ experiences at NUS, explore different pathways beyond university, and gain practical insights into career and personal development.
NUS ECE Research Selected as ECCV 2026 Award Candidate
Congratulations to ECE PhD student Mr. Zhang Shihua and his co-authors from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), National University of Singapore (NUS), whose paper, “Make Geometry Matter for Spatial Reasoning,” was selected as one of 10 Award Candidates at the 19th European Conference on Computer Vision (ECCV 2026). The paper was also accepted as an ECCV 2026 Long Oral Presentation. Mr. Zhang Shihua is supervised by Associate Professor Wang Xinchao. The paper was co-authored by Shihua Zhang, Qiuhong Shen, Shizun Wang, Tianbo Pan and Xinchao Wang.
NUS IEEE-HKN Internal Bonding Session and SEP/NOC Sharing 2026
On 7 September 2026, the IEEE-HKN Lambda Omega Chapter held its first internal bonding session of the academic year, together with a Student Exchange Programme (SEP) and NUS Overseas Colleges (NOC) Sharing Session. The event provided members with an opportunity to learn from seniors about overseas study and internship experiences, while fostering connections among newly inducted and existing Chapter members.

On 27 August 2026, the NUS Chapter of IEEE-Eta Kappa Nu (HKN) hosted a Welcome Tea to kick off the AY2025/26 Semester 1 NUS ECE Peer Tutoring Scheme.

On 5 September 2026, the IEEE-HKN Lambda Omega Chapter of NUS inducted 32 new members to the honor society. These inductees have demonstrated the core pillars of IEEE-HKN, Scholarship, Character, and Attitude through their journey as Electrical and Computer Engineering students at NUS.
