  • First position in MIREX challenge: The "Automatic Lyrics-to-Audio Alignment" system by the team from HLT-NUS (Chitralekha Gupta, Emre Yilmaz, Haizhou Li) has outperformed all other systems in the International Music Information Retrieval Evaluation eXchange platform MIREX 2019.   • ECE post-graduate student won the second prize in 2019 International Collegiate Competition for Brain-Inspired Computing: The joint team from Human Language Technology Laboratory (NUS), and Multimedia and Interactive Computing Laboratory (NTU) emerged as one of the Second Prize winners in the 2019 International Collegiate Competition for Brain-Inspired Computing. The winning team is led by post-graduate student Wu Jibin supervised by Prof Li Haizhou from ECE Department.
    They received a certificate, as well as prize money of RMB 60,000.0. The award recognises the latest technology breakthrough in the learning algorithm for biologically plausible spiking neural networks. The highlight of the research includes the successful neuromorphic implementation of several large-scale pattern recognition tasks, such as image classification, automatic speech recognition and speech separation.
    More than 200 international teams participated in the competition held on the 19th and 20th October 2019 in Tsinghua University, China. The participating entries covered hardware, software, and applications in the area of brain-inspired computing for artificial general intelligence. Please check out the photo.
  • Mr. Jibin Wu, as nominated by the National University of Singapore, is selected by the organizing committee with full travel sponsorship to attend the second edition of the EPFL Engineering PhD Summit, Switzerland. Jibin will present our latest research achievements in the Neuromorphic Computing among other selected attendees from top engineering schools at the summit.
  • Leading Positions in ZeroSpeech Challenge 2019 'TTS without T'Congratulations to the NAIST, RIKEN and NUS joint team (Andros Tjandra, Berrak Sisman, Mingyang Zhang, Sakriani Sakti, Haizhou Li, Satoshi Nakamura) who participated in ZeroSpeech Challenge 2019 'TTS without T' to rank 1st in Character Error Rate and 2nd in Mean Opinion Score among 19 international submissions.
