On Monday, 23 September 2024, the NUS Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department hosted the ECE Shannon Award Ceremony, recognizing the academic achievements of students from the 2022 and 2024 intakes. The event took place at Lecture Theatre 1, with over 30 attendees, including awardees, their proud families, and faculty members.
This year, 18 Electrical Engineering students were honoured, with 9 awardees from the 2024 intake and 9 from the 2022 intake. Of these, 6 awardees from the 2024 intake and 4 from the 2022 intake attended the ceremony, accompanied by their families and friends.
The Shannon Award, named after Claude Shannon, the “Father of Information Theory,” is awarded to Singaporean students with good University Admission Scores. Recipients must also meet the criterion of not holding any other concurrent scholarships.
Following the awards presentation, attendees enjoyed a lunch reception, offering students and their families an opportunity to interact with faculty members.
The ECE Shannon Award serves as a meaningful incentive for promising students to explore and contribute to the evolving field of Electrical Engineering. It plays an important role in supporting the future growth of this dynamic discipline.
