In an increasingly digital world, computers have become ingrained in almost every aspect of our daily lives. The websites we browse, the pictures and videos that we take, as well as our business and commercial activities all leave a digital footprint. In the hands of the wrong person, any access to our personal information can have serious consequences: leakage of bank account numbers, passport and personal identification records, corporate secrets, to name a few. In a recent feature on CNA, A/Prof. Biplab Sikdar showed how easy it is to recover such data from the old computing devices that we discard.
