ECE Internship and Career Fair (ECE ICF) is an annual NUS ECE USC flagship event that provides a platform for ECE students to meet and network with HR and technical personnel from the industry. This year’s ECE ICF 2022 was held on the 26th of January 2022 from 11 am to 5 pm, it was jointly organised by ECE Department and ECE Undergraduate Student Council (USC).
What is special about the ECE ICF 2022 is that for the very first time, the event was held in a Hybrid format – physical and virtual. The organizing committee decided on the hybrid format in view of the Covid-19 restrictions and also to allow more companies to participate in the event, which in turn would provide students the opportunities to meet and interact with more companies.
The physical event was held at the E3 Classrooms while the virtual event was held via zoom. Both the physical and virtual events ran concurrently on the same day, each hosting different companies. The number of participating companies doubled from last year giving a wider representation of specialisations and sectors in both Electrical and Computer Engineering. Companies such as Razer, VMWare, Siltronic, and Avanade joined us for the first time.
The companies which participated in the physical event include DSTA, DSO National Laboratories, Centre For Strategic Infocomm Technologies (CSIT), Micron Semiconductor Asia, GlobalFoundries Singapore, Huawei Technology, Siemens, Dyson, Continental Automotive, Razer, Schlumberger, and VMWare. The companies which participated in the virtual event include AMD, ABB, Silicon Labs, IMDA, Xilinx, SIA, Cognizant, Rolls-Royce, Singtel-NCS, Motorola, SP Group, Siltronic, Keysight Technologies, Avanade, Infineon, and Hope Technik.
Besides the opportunity to interact with more and a wider selection of companies, some students were even selected by the companies for a job interview on the event day itself! Virtual Career Talks were also conducted which provided students to get to know and understand more about the different industries of participating companies and the internship and career opportunities they have to offer.
Despite the controlled and staggered event time-slots in order to comply with Covid-19 safe management measures, both the NUS ECE ICF 2022 physical and virtual events went on smoothly with encouraging numbers of attendance from undergraduate and graduate engineering students from all fields of study. The physical event was attended by 300 students while 255 students attended the virtual event.
