ECE Student Life at the Student Life Fair 2025

The Student Life Fair (SLF) 2025 provided a valuable platform to showcase the breadth and vibrancy of student life within National University of Singapore. This year, Bitscraps and the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Club proudly represented ECE, drawing strong interest from students across the university.

Bitscraps, the department’s repair and electronics club, welcomed visitors to a booth filled with projects and electronic items repaired by its members. Students had the opportunity to learn more about the club’s tools, ongoing repair sessions, and hands-on approach to problem-solving. Interactive quizzes on electronics added to the experience, with participants earning exclusive Bitscraps stickers. The booth generated enthusiastic responses from students of diverse backgrounds, many of whom expressed interest in joining the community of makers and repair enthusiasts.

The ECE Club also put up an engaging booth that captured the curiosity of students. The Executive Committee (EXCO) introduced visitors to the club’s wide range of activities, from academic and welfare initiatives to publicity, finance, and camps. They also opened recruitment for Sub-Committees, inviting students to take an active role in shaping the club’s upcoming projects. To add to the excitement, the booth featured a buzz-wire trivia game, which tested both dexterity and knowledge of ECE. Through interactive play and lively conversations, the ECE Club successfully showcased its spirit and built anticipation for the year ahead.

While not present at SLF ’25, several other ECE-related clubs continue to contribute significantly to the student experience:

  • IEEE NUS organizes hands-on and innovative events that bring technology to life. From AWS DeepRacer competitions to Data Engineering workshops with industry experts—including engineers from OpenAI—the club offers meaningful opportunities to learn, create, and grow. In addition, it hosts creative sessions such as Math in Origami, highlighting its commitment to both technical excellence and holistic learning.

  • IEEE – Eta Kappa Nu (IEEE-HKN), the honour society of IEEE, recognizes and fosters excellence in Electrical and Computer Engineering and related disciplines. The Lambda Omega Chapter at NUS promotes leadership, scholarship, and service through academic support, technical competitions, and professional development events. Membership in IEEE-HKN is a mark of distinction, recognizing students for outstanding academic achievement, leadership, and service.

  • The ECE Undergraduate Student Council (USC) serves as the representative body and support system for ECE undergraduates. Working closely with the department, the USC addresses academic, social, and well-being concerns, while also organizing events that enrich the student experience and strengthen community bonds.

Together, these five clubs reflect the diversity and dynamism of ECE Student Life, offering students avenues to explore their interests, develop skills, and build meaningful connections beyond the classroom.
