ECE Team won the First Prize in the 2nd International Collegiate Competition for Brain-Inspired Computing

The ECE Team from Human Language Technology Laboratory won the First Prize in the 2nd International Collegiate Competition for Brain-Inspired Computing, on 14 Oct 2018, held in Tsinghua University, China. Nearly 300 teams from 84 international institutions participated in the competition. The participating entries cover hardware, software, and applications in the area of brain-inspired computing for artificial general intelligence. The ECE team was among the two winners of the First Prize.

The ECE Team is supervised by Professor Li Haizhou, consisting of three Ph.D students, Wu Jibin, Pan Zihan and Zhang Malu, and A*STAR collaborator Chua Yansong. The award recognizes the latest technology breakthrough in neuromorphic automatic speech recognition, a biologically plausible spiking neural network that is inspired by the anatomical structure of the human cochlea and human auditory attention mechanism.

The First Prize includes a certificate and a prize of RMB 100,000.0 Yuan.
