Professor Dipti Srinivasan has been awarded the “2020 Outstanding Volunteer Award” by Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Singapore for her excellent service in furthering the mission of IEEE through her volunteer efforts.
The award aims to recognize volunteers who have made outstanding contributions to the Singapore Section, its Chapters and IEEE as a whole. Professor Srinivasan has been actively serving the IEEE for the past twenty years in various capacities. She has been a very active volunteer of IEEE Power & Energy and IEEE Computational Intelligence Societies, and has been serving in many society‐level committees on education, conferences, and technical activities. She is also credited with organizing many promotional activities to increase the society membership.
Prof Dipti also heads the Centre for Green Energy Management & Smart Grid (GEMS) in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, NUS. Her recent research projects are in the broad areas of optimization and control, wind and solar power prediction, electricity price prediction, deep learning, and development of multi-agent systems for system operation and control. She has secured over S$20 Million in external funding for research projects in these areas. Her current research focuses on the development of novel computational intelligence-based models and methodologies to aid the integration of the new Smart Grid technologies into the existing infrastructure so that power grid can effectively utilize pervasive renewable energy generation and demand-side management programs, while accommodating stochastic load demand. She has authored more than 400 publications which have been highly cited.
