Professor Alioto is an IEEE Fellow since 2016 for his leadership in the field of low-energy integrated systems. Among the many other leading positions in the scientific community, he is/was the Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Transactions on VLSI Systems, the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE JETCAS journal, IEEE Distinguished Lecturer for the Circuits&Systems and Solid-State Circuits societies, Chair of several IEEE conferences, and the organizer of the first advanced engineering MEAD courses in Asia.

His Green IC research group has demonstrated several breakthroughs and worldwide records in the field of ultra-low power and green integrated circuits for processing, memories, power management, sensor interfaces, hardware security, and sensing integrated systems. The related research work has spurred about 300 scientific publications, 4 books (including the first book on chip design for IoT with 50,000 downloads in two years), 50+ invited talks/keynotes in the last five years, and has been covered by about 100 articles in public media and press in the last three years.

His research at NUS has been really enabled by the vibrant group of researchers at the Green IC group in ECE-NUS, and the extensive sponsorship of funding agencies and the global semiconductor industry.
