NUS ECE Ph.D. student Gurleen Kaur (Supervisor : Assoc. Prof. Aaron J. Danner) won the Best Poster Award at 46th IEEE Photovoltaic Specialist Conference (PVSC)- 2019 held from June 16-21, 2019 in Chicago, Illinois, US.
IEEE PVSC is one of the premier international photovoltaics conferences that cover the entire spectrum of technical activities in photovoltaic science and engineering and provides a unique opportunity to share and discuss the latest PV-related developments from around the world. This work was named best poster by a panel of judges through a rigorous critique of design, technical merit, impact within the field and an oral presentation defending the research.
The winning work is titled- “Ultra-thin LPCVD SiNx/n+poly-Si passivated contacts – A possibility?”. and was done in collaboration with Solar Energy Research Institute of Singapore (SERIS) and Institute of Material Research and Engineering (IMRE).
This is the first report showcasing the use of ultrathin LPCVD Silicon Nitride layers in passivating contacts. The key role of fixed charges in the interlayer, enhancing the contact selectivity, was demonstrated through a thorough characterisation and analysis.
