Dr. Rajesh Panicker, Deputy Head (External Relations & Outreach), kicked off the session with some opening words for the students. Following that, students were introduced to practical electrical and handyman skills, including understanding circuit breakers, changing light bulbs, stripping wires, fixing water taps, and building simple circuits using breadboards. These sessions provided students with valuable exposure to real-world skills and a strong foundation in electrical concepts through guided demonstrations and close supervision by IEEE-HKN volunteers.
In line with the growing importance of digital literacy, students also learnt how to use generative AI tools to create presentations and simple social media posts more efficiently. This segment emphasised responsible AI use, safe online practices, and thoughtful content creation, blending technical knowledge with digital creativity.
We would like to thank NUS ECE for their support in making this workshop possible, as well as our member volunteers for their time and dedication. Lastly, we would like to thank the St John Brigade cadets for their energy, curiosity, and active participation. We look forward to continuing similar outreach initiatives in the future, fostering an enthusiasm for STEM learning and hands-on exploration.
