DroneGuard: AI-Driven Real-Time Drone Detection

Lee Xian Hui and Chan Sheng Bin
Bachelor of Engineering (Computer Engineering), Class of 2026 and Class of 2027 respectively

DroneGuard is a real-time drone detection system using Software-Defined Radio and Edge AI, combining RF-based machine learning and computer vision to detect unauthorised drones with over 95% accuracy. Deployed on a Raspberry Pi 5 with a Hailo AI accelerator, it delivers real-time alerts via a web dashboard and Telegram, offering a low-cost, scalable solution for urban surveillance. The team won 1st place at the SONDRA Challenge 2025 and a fully sponsored trip to France for the 6th SONDRA Workshop.

Halal Chain: Shariah- Compliant Finance on the Blockchain

Agastya Desai
Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical Engineering), Class of 2026

Halal Chain clinched 1st Place at the NUS FinTech Summit 2026, redefining how blockchain innovation can serve the global Muslim community. Built to address the limitations of traditional DeFi—where interest and speculation are prohibited in Islamic finance—Halal Chain offers a truly Shariah-compliant alternative. The platform enables real asset tokenisation with transparent backing, smart contracts aligned with Islamic principles, and profit-sharing mechanisms in place of interest-based returns. The team demonstrated a complete halal investment workflow—from asset verification to on-chain profit distribution—ensuring full transparency and compliance.

Incy Tech: Thermal Floater

Sparsh
Bachelor of Engineering (Computer Engineering), Class of 2026

Incy Tech is a start-up founded by Sparsh, to develop a floating solar device that converts sunlight into electricity, offering a sustainable and affordable energy solution. The project was Runner-up at the MIT Climate & Energy Prize Grand Finals, ranking among the world’s top 10 student-led climate ventures, with Sparsh as the only undergraduate finalist from Singapore. Incy Tech also won the London Business School CleanTech Challenge 2025, securing a €20,000 grant to advance its prototype and industry partnerships.

Team Bumblebee

Team Bumblebee is a multidisciplinary, student-led robotics team comprising students from ECE, ME, the School of Computing, and the NUS Business School. Together, the team designs and builds autonomous maritime vehicles capable of navigating underwater and on the water surface to perform complex tasks autonomously.

ECE students play a key role by designing efficient power systems, integrating advanced sensors, and developing robust signal processing and control systems for precise navigation and stability. They work on embedded systems for real-time data processing, optimisze energy distribution, and create reliable communication networks for underwater and surface operations. Their expertise ensures the vehicles are intelligent, energy-efficient, and capable of adapting to dynamic environmental conditions, enabling full autonomy in challenging scenarios.

VerdyHive: An Intelligent and Sustainable Smart Home System

Tan Jia Min
Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical Engineering), Class of 2027

Roderick Kong Zhang
Bachelor of Engineering (Computer Engineering), Class of 2027

VerdyHive is a modular eco smart home system designed to make homes smarter, greener, and more energy-efficient. Developed for the IEEE Sensors Council’s MYOSA Event 2.0, it integrates sensors, actuators, and an MQTT-based IoT hub to automatically adjust appliances based on environmental data. VerdyHive was awarded Top 10 at MYOSA Event 2.0 and presented at ExCEllence (NUS ECE Project Showcase 2025) and NUS ECE Open Day 2025, showcasing the potential of data-driven, sustainable smart living solutions.
