Abdullah Al Mamun obtained B.Tech. (Hons.) in Electronics and Electrical Communication Engineering from IIT, Kharagpur (India) in 1985 and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from National University of Singapore (NUS) in 1997. He has a variety of professional experience in academic, research and industrial environment. He has been with NUS as a faculty member since January, 1999. Prior to that, he had worked in various capacities for Maxtor (Singapore) Ltd., Data Storage Institute (Singapore), and Siemens (Bangladesh) Ltd. Research interests of Mamun include precision mechatronics, servomechanism in data storage devices, intelligent control, and mobile robots. He is the main author of the book titled “Hard Disk Drive: Mechatronics and Control” with two coauthors from Data Storage Institute. The book was published in 2006 by CRC Press, Taylor and Francis Publications, USA. He is author or co-author of 31 articles published in premium international journals, more than 40 articles presented in international conferences, one book chapter and co-editor of two Springer proceedings.
