LAI Yan Kai

LECTURER

Dr. Lai Yan Kai received his B.Eng in Electrical Engineering in 2019 and Ph.D. in 2024 at the National University of Singapore. Between 2013 and 2019, with Mr. Pang Hai Chet, he has helped to clinch more than fifty awards for the robotics teams he mentored in Dunman High School Senior High Robotics. His research interests include robotic path planning. He formulated a vector-based global path-planning algorithm, R2, for any-angle global path planning, which is the first to find optimal paths in non-convex obstacles by delaying visibility checks. As an educator, his works include various visualization tools, and is part of the teaching team for new Robotics and Artificial Intelligence undergraduate courses.
