Mandar Chitre is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering (ECE) of the National University of Singapore (NUS), and the Head of the Acoustic Research Laboratory (ARL) at the Tropical Marine Science Institute (TMSI). Prior to joining NUS in 2003, he spent 5 years in the industry, heading the technology division of a regional telecommunications solutions company. After returning to academia, he has served as vice-chairman, secretary and treasurer of the IEEE OES (Singapore chapter) and is currently the IEEE technology committee co-chair of underwater communication, navigation & positioning. He has also served on the technical program committees of IEEE OCEANS, WUWNet and DTA conferences and is a reviewer for many international journals. Dr. Chitre’s research interests include signal processing, ambient noise imaging, underwater acoustic communications, autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), complex dynamic systems and emergent behavior.
