Marco TOMAMICHEL

PROFESSOR

Marco Tomamichel is a Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the National University of Singapore and a Principal Investigator at the Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT) in Singapore. His research interests lie in the intersection of cryptography, information theory and quantum mechanics. He cares deeply about the mathematical foundations of quantum information theory, for example the study of information measures, and about its applications to cryptography and communication in a world where quantum computers are emerging.

Marco Tomamichel received a M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology from ETH Zurich in 2007 and then followed his interest in quantum information to graduate with a Ph.D. in Physics at the Institute of Theoretical Physics also at ETH in 2012. His love of travel in addition to the global attractiveness of the Centre for Quantum Technologies first brought him to Singapore for a postdoc stint. Before returning as faculty at ECE, he has also been a Research Fellow at the University of Sydney and an Associate Professor at the University of Technology Sydney.

Dr. Tomamichel is an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Information Theory and on the Editorial Board of Proceedings of the Royal Society A.
