Anthony K. C. TAN

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR

Anthony Tan is an Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at NUS and a Presidential Young Professor. His research focuses on the control and interface of quantum systems (e.g., spins, light, and phonons in wide-bandgap materials) to probe novel physical phenomena across disciplines.  His notable contributions include the first imaging of antiferromagnetic quasiparticles (Nat. Mater. 23, 205 (2024)), all-optical quantum magnetometry of quantum materials (PR Applied 16, 014054 (2021)) and realizing the lowest acoustic ground state in an optical fibre (in preparation).

He leads the Quantum Systems Engineering Lab at NUS, where his group develops hybrid quantum platforms for quantum transduction and advanced quantum sensors for diagnostics in extreme environments, with the broader goal of redefining how quantum technologies interface with the real world.
