Professor Ho Ghim Wei is Vice Provost (Academic Affairs) and Provost’s Chair Professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS). In her role as Vice Provost (Academic Affairs), Prof Ho supports the Provost in overseeing the academic review process and upholding standards of excellence in faculty appointments and career progression.
As Chair of the University Promotion & Tenure Committee (UPTC), Prof Ho oversees the university-wide review process for faculty promotion and tenure, ensuring consistency, rigour and alignment with institutional standards. She has also served previously as Associate Provost (Academic Affairs) and Vice Dean (Student Life) at the College of Design and Engineering.
An expert in nanomaterials and hybrid functional systems, Prof Ho leads the Sustainable Smart Systems research group at NUS. Her research focuses on the design and development of nanosystems based on emerging low-dimensional materials, with applications in sustainable energy, environmental remediation, electronics, and healthcare. She has published over 200 papers in international peer-reviewed journals and was named a Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher in the Cross-Field category in 2023 and 2024.
Her scientific contributions have been recognised through accolades such as the L’Oréal-UNESCO for Women in Science Fellowship (2014), the JCI Ten Outstanding Young Persons (TOYP) Award in Science and/or Technological Development (2015), and the Great Women of Our Time in Science & Technology Award (2016).
Prof Ho serves as Associate Editor for Journal of Materials Chemistry A, Materials Advances, and EcoEnergy, and sits on the Editorial Advisory Boards of Advanced Sustainable Systems, ChemPlusChem, Advanced Materials Technologies, ChemNanoMat, Next Energy, and Nano Trends.
Prof Ho graduated from the University of Cambridge, where she was an elected Scholar at Selwyn College, and is a Cambridge Commonwealth Society Fellow. She is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
