Social Activities

On October 27, 2023, the NUS ECE Club, in collaboration with NUS Board Games, transformed Utown Seminar Rooms 7 and 8 into a spooky Halloween-themed haven. The Halloween Board Games Night brought students from diverse majors and Co-Curricular Activities together to have fun and unwind especially during the examination season.

The event featured a fantastic array of board games, such as 'Burrito' and 'Coup.' In 'Burrito,' players embarked on a quirky card game adventure. 'Coup,' a popular social deduction card game, added an exciting twist to the evening. These games provided the perfect backdrop for students to immerse themselves in thrilling gameplay and showcase their strategic prowess.

We are thankful for the NUS Board Games for their invaluable support in making the event a resounding success. Their expertise in the world of board games undoubtedly contributed to the enjoyable experience for all attendees. Moreover, we want to acknowledge the outstanding efforts of our welfare team for their meticulous planning and dedication in sourcing the delightful Halloween-themed treats that kept everyone energised throughout the night.

The Halloween Board Games Night was more than just a gaming event; it was an opportunity to foster a sense of camaraderie and create lasting memories. We look forward to hosting more engaging events like this in the future, uniting students from different backgrounds and making our NUS community stronger than ever. Stay tuned for more exciting adventures with the NUS ECE Club!

As Covid-19 restrictions eased by mid-2022, the long-awaited ECE Camp 22, a fully face-to-face 3 days camp was organised and held from the 20th to the 22nd of June 2022! ECE Club organised the annual freshmen orientation camp with 3 full days of exciting camp and bonding activities. Involving over 25 senior students and over 100 ECE freshmen, the first fully face-to-face orientation camp after 3 years of Covid was finally here!

Freshmen were welcomed with an exclusive camp welfare pack that was kindly provided by our sponsors as well as a customised camp tee shirt! During the camp, students went through meaningful activities such as an amazing race and night walk around NUS campus to familiarize themselves with significant locations and landmarks. This indirectly provided a  campus tour, bringing freshmen around to get to know and adapt to the huge university campus environment. These activities created many opportunities for freshmen and orientation group leaders and seniors to get to know each other and share about academics, university life and even life plans! Lastly, ECE Club and ECE Camp Committee would like to place a huge shoutout and a huge thank you here to all sponsors, committee members and student leaders who have contributed, enthused and engaged with the freshmen!

A much-awaited event after a hiatus for several years, the Class of 2022 Graduation Dinner was hosted by the ECE Undergraduate Student Council (USC), at the elegant Plume ballroom under the Singapore Flyer on 21st May, Saturday, 2022.

The event included over 110 graduates, plus-ones, and ECE faculty. As part of the graduation gift package, graduates received a custom ECE hoodie, a congratulatory note and a travel document organizer proudly sponsored by the Office of Alumni Relations (OAR).

The event began with an inspiring welcome speech by Prof. Arthur Tay and a screening of the OAR commencement video. After which, everyone was served dinner while they reminisced with each other about their NUS experiences, caught up with one another’s lives and excitedly discussed future plans! Amidst the conversations, laughter and cutlery sounds, there were also two marvelous musical performances, performed by our very own ECE students. The beautiful singers enlivened the ballroom with their melodious voices alongside the guitar and keyboard instrumentals.

After the performances, laughter ensued with some fun and interactive games, followed by a “Best Dressed” competition where in the two most fashionably dressed individuals were voted by the attendees, after their captivating catwalks on stage! The games and the “Best Dressed” competition engaged the audience thoroughly as everyone enthusiastically participated, cheered, and clapped. The event ended free and easy, where in everyone indulged in taking photos, casually chatted or danced to  music by our very own DJ!

It was a memorable and precious one-time get together that celebrated a significant milestone for the Class of 2022. This event celebrated the memories of their undergraduate journey and we wish the ECE Class of 2022, the very best in their future endeavours!

ECE club conducted their very first flagship Welfare Carnival this year on February 26, 2022, where there was a variety of game booths like Ddakji, Dart Tic Tac Toe and Shuttlepass, designed and manned by ECE Club members. The Welfare Carnival is an innovative twist on the typical welfare pack giveaway with fun and interesting activities allowing students to destress! Friends get to bond at playing games and working together to overcome challenges.

Lots of welfare pack goodies such as bubble tea were given out to motivate and support about 200 ECE students in their preparations for mid-term tests. We also had various rewards for participating in the games, like polaroid photos, keychains, soft toys and more. The event wrapped out with an exciting lucky draw where three lucky students walked away with Armaggeddon Keyboard, Razer Mouse and Xiaomi Powerbank!
