Congratulations to NUS ECE PhD Students Mr. Zhang Jingyuan (supervised by Adjunct Professor Guo Yongxin and Associate Professor Zhu Chunxiang) and Mr. Zheng Zhi (supervised by Adjunct Professor Guo Yongxin, Associate Professor Zhu Chunxiang and Associate Professor Zhou Zhiying) for winning the Best Student Paper Awards at IEEE 2024 Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference (APMC 2024), respectively. The two papers were orally presented at the conference during November 17-20, 2024, in Bali, Indonesia.
As one of the three major international conferences in the field of RF and microwave technology, the Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference (APMC) covers topics including RF components and circuits, antennas and propagation, systems and applications, and emerging technologies such as AI and quantum technologies. APMC 2024 is its 36th version since it was launched in 1986. A total of 638 paper submissions were received for APMC 2024 from 34 countries and regions, with 445 papers accepted. Among them, 5 papers were selected for the Best Student Paper Awards. Conference website: https://apmc2024.org/
The award-wining paper by Mr. Zhang Jingyuan, entitled “A Fully-Integrated GaN Coupled-Line-Based Load-Modulated Balanced Amplifier” introduces novel design principles and implementation methods of a fully-integrated load-modulated balanced amplifier (LMBA) using coupled-line technology. A high-performance LMBA MMIC in the C-band was tape-outed and tested for validation.
The other award-wining paper by Mr. Zheng Zhi, entitled “Non-Contact Blood Pressure Estimation Based on Doppler Radar With Adaptive Filtering Technique” introduces an innovative non-contact continuous blood pressure estimation method based on a customised K-band continuous wave radar sensor. By introducing an adaptive filtering technique, low-frequency clutter in the detected signal is effectively filtered out and the pulse wave signal is extracted, thereby achieving more accurate blood pressure estimation.
