Jerald Yoo, Associate Professor of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, National University of Singapore, has been appointed as an IEEE Circuits and Systems Society (CASS) Distinguished Lecturer (DL). The CASS DL Program provides experts in the Society’s areas of interest to speak at chapter meetings and regional seminars. To be eligible for a CASS DL, a nominee must be a well-known member in the CASS community, which is judged and selected by the quantity and quality of his or her publications, as well as having an excellent lecture skill; then the CASS Board of Governors approves the appointment.

Prof. Yoo will serve as the IEEE CASS Distinguished Lecturer for a two-year term, from 2019 to 2020. He has pioneered and is recognized in the field of Energy-Efficient Circuit Design for Wearable Healthcare Applications, Embedded Machine-Learning and Body Area Network using Human Body as a Communication Medium. His CASS DL talks will be on “On-Chip Epilepsy Detection – Where Machine-Learning Meets Wearable Healthcare”, and “Body Area Network – Connecting Things Together Around the Body”. He had already served as a DL for IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society (2017-2018), where he was the first SSCS DL from a Singapore-based institution.
