Optica, the leading society in optics and photonics, proudly announced that Dr. Radhakrishnan Nagarajan, a distinguished alumnus of NUS ECE and current Visiting Professor, has been selected as the 2024 recipient of the 
David Richardson Medal. Established in 1966, the Richardson Medal recognizes significant contributions to optical engineering, primarily in the commercial and industrial sector. It honors David Richardson’s impact on applied optics.
The accolade acknowledges Dr. Nagarajan’s remarkable achievements in successfully manufacturing and commercializing InP and Si-based photonic integrated circuits, specifically for optical interconnects with diverse applications. Recognized as an insightful engineer and outstanding innovator and mentor, Dr. Nagarajan’s capacity to translate concepts into commercial reality has left a profile impact on the optics and photonics industry.
